DoT slaps Rs 878cr demand on Vodafone

The Indian department of telecommunications (DoT) has reportedly asked Vodafone to pay dues and penalties worth Rs 878 crrore for the period from 2008-09 to 2011-12, sources revealed. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, people familiar with the development said that the total amount raised against Vodafone had to be paid by February 20. Every mobile phone operator is liable to pay various sorts of annual charges, such as license fee and spectrum usage charge, depending on the revenue they earn from telecom services. read more
