Honda aims to overtake Hero by 2015

Honda Motor Co (HMC) aims to surpass erstwhile partner Hero MotoCorp to become India’s number one two-wheeler manufacturer over the next three years. Japan-based automobile giant Honda operates in India through a wholly-owned subsidiary Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI). It is now planning to focus on entry-level sub-125cc motorcycles in the coming years to challenge Hero’s models like Passion and Splendor. Shinji Aoyama, operating officer for the company’s motorcycle business, said that HMSI would be able to edge past Hero MotoCorp by 2015-16. read more
