Japan has set example for other nations to review their nuclear plants. India is also prompted to review its nuclear plants after the radiation crisis in Fukushima. Srikumar Banerjee, chairman, Atomic Energy Commission said that in spite of these examining, India will move ahead with its nuclear power plants and this year will established its eighth new reactor. Banerjee said that boiling reactors of two reactors formed in Tarapur have similar design as of Fukishima’s reactors. All these reactors are old GE reactors. But Indians have incorporated additional safety features. read more

There is a local area development scheme, MPLAD under which government approved large quantities of funds for the members of parliament but a report submitted by the Comptroller and Auditor General shows that MPs, on an average, spent only 50% of the funds available to them during last five years. The report also discloses that MPs usually spent funds only near to general elections. The funds available during 2004-2005 to 2008-2009 have been utilized in a range between 37.43 per cent and 52.44 per cent. read more
