HP to offer webOS platform to open source community

Making the uncertainty surrounding its webOS platform a thing of the past, Hewlett-Packard (HP) said in a recent press release that it has decided to offer its operating system to open source community. The company also added that it will remain actively involved in terms of the development and support of the mobile platform, and will also invest in it. Palo Alto-based HP said in its statement that the webOS mobile operating system – which was bought by the company from Palm for $1.2 billion in April 2010 – will be released to open source developers. read more

India’s heavy public debt is ‘constraint’ to higher rating: Moody’s
